Support For Marie Swety

Our sister, Marie, has been the rock of our family for decades. If you are lucky enough to know Marie, you know she will be by your side in a moment’s notice. She personally cared and advocated for my Mom, my Dad, and my sister, Theresa, when they were ill, up to their deaths. Whenever you have a medical issue, Marie will do everything in her power to help you understand it and make knowledgeable decisions based on your needs. And when you have non-medical issues, she is always available to talk and listen or just sit by your side and hold your hand so you never feel alone. If you have ever met Marie in passing, she is wildly outgoing and always smiling. Upon first meeting her, she will immediately embrace you with a warm and welcoming hug and you will get one every time you cross her path. Now, it is Marie who is going through tough times and needs support. She lost her job 18 months ago and has struggled to regain employment and, with it, proper medical coverage. Within the last year, Marie started having hearing loss and after seeking answers from doctors, an MRI revealed a mass behind her left ear. Fortunately, the tumor is benign, but it has affected her hearing, balance, and facial nerves. It must be removed immediately before it continues to grow and cause any additional health issues. She is scheduled to undergo an invasive 12-hour brain surgery on Friday, August 30. This is a dangerous procedure as the tumor is pushing up against several nerves and her spine just at the base of the brain. With a successful outcome, we are hoping and praying that Marie will be able to recover in 6-8 weeks. As Marie takes on this next hurdle in life, she will be burdened with monumental medical bills for surgery, post-surgery, and therapy. We anticipate at least $50,000 in out-of-pocket expenses. We all will do what we can do to help her, but we are starting this effort to see if others, who have been impacted by Marie’s own lifetime of charity, love, and support, will help us in our cause to assist her.
