Robert's Journey, His FIGHT is OUR fight!

Those who know Robert A. Asperin Jr. "Boogaloo", know how infectious his joy and spirit are! He is the light of our lives, always sharing his love for life and happiness with others. His bright smile and genuine spirit touch the lives he crosses.

Led by a tender and generous heart, Robert has a passion for coming alongside others as they walk towards wholeness and healing in their relationships with God and others. Always the first with a word of hope and encouragement, he is now in need of that which he so beautifully gives while fighting for victory in a battle of his own.

Robert A. Asperin Jr, 50, is an Apprentice for Los Angeles Union Rescue Mission and serves in their fundraising and accounting Department. Robert is a recent graduate of Teen Challenge Ministry Institute and "The Castle" Teen Challenge where he supported and shared His testimony with others who were eager to change their lives. He is an alumnus of St Jude's Academy and Marian High School. He is a well-respected business professional, serving His community as a business banker at First Republic Bank.

Sadly, Robert’s world was turned upside down in January 2019 when he saw his doctor for a check-up and found out he was terminally ill and was diagnosed with advanced Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

On July 13, 2019, the situation was dire, and he was rushed to the hospital. Emergency surgery was performed on July 16th in order to stabilize the tumor and infection. On July 26, 2019, I received the worst phone call of my life, Robert's oncologist informed me my brother was in ICU in grave condition and his tumor was inoperable now creating irregular heart rates and infections causing other organs to be in distress.

The tumor is aggressive and growing in size. Robert is currently in a severe amount of pain as he is beginning to feel the size of the tumor throughout his body, and thus far no medication has been able to subside it.

He has held his head high and with the love of God, Family and Friends has continued to fight with everything in him. This has been an ongoing battle and now, Robert, with his family alongside him, faces the toughest climb yet. But through your generosity and God's mercy, we can surround him with our love and help support him through this chapter and the unknown journey ahead.

Our family is humbled by your compassion and thoughtfulness to even consider donating. And if you can't donate, that is okay. We only ask you to keep Robert and his family in your daily prayers.

He will need all the love and support to carry him through. He has touched so many with his kindred spirit and bright smile. It's now our turn to show him how loved he is and give him the added strength he needs to beat cancer.

We ask that if you can give, please do; as we are now encountering unexpected costs at every turn. There is no such thing as a small donation and every little bit is a blessing for him.

The hope is this GoFundMe will provide financial relief and support for Robert and his family, and directly assist with medical expenses, 24-hour care, medication, ambulance transportation from Los Angeles County to Riverside County (to honor his wish to be Home with Family and Friends), unforeseen expenses and the inevitable. To be honest, we don't really know how much all of this is going to cost, but if there is money left over, we will donate the funds to the two organizations that he holds close to his heart.

Cancer has met its match. You won't find another individual as mentally and spiritually strong and resilient as Boogaloo. I look forward to the day we are celebrating his victory over cancer.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank each of you for the outpour of love, prayers, and support. In the midst of darkness, you each remind us that we're not alone on this journey.

Please continue to pray, as we believe in miracles and look to God for strength and comfort.

With love,

Robert's (Boogaloo, Boogs, Boogie, Big Rob, Mr. GQ) Family
