In Loving Memory of Larry Martinez

It was the best of times, absolutely the best of times. In the mid 70’s, Larry Martinez, with Don Sidle, opened The Place restaurant in Lionshead. They didn’t just design a great menu, they created an environment for a subculture of Hairbags to thrive and an atmosphere of fun and laughs that nurtured lifelong friendships.Larry was at the heart of this and remained in the Vail Valley throughout his life, always smiling, always quick with a joke, and whenever possible, always on the golf course.We’d like to honor the memory of our dear friend by creating a place for his friends to sit back and take a moment to think of their old friend, a memorial bench at his favorite golf course.We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Larry’s life and laughter by donating what you can toward his bench. When you think about your friendships, how many exist as a result of our time at The Place and Larry’s infectious warm-heartedness.Any excess monies will go directly to Sue.
