Support Steve: Help The Heemstra Family

STEVE IS RECOVERING FROM A HEART ATTACK

Steve Heemstra, loving husband and father, friend to all, and a true pillar of the community, was tending his garden on his farm in Chimacum on a sunny summer afternoon when he suddenly experienced chest pain and collapsed on July 13, 2019. His wife, Marci, a youth minister, and three kids had just returned from camp, and they arrived in time to see him fall over. They rushed to call 911.

The medics thankfully were able to resuscitate him immediately. Steve was then flown by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. After surgery and miraculously surviving two additional resuscitations, Steve is recovering and doing better than expected. Steve is now awake and alert, and even has his good old sense of humor back, after being sedated overnight and having a breathing tube. He truly has a fighting spirit.

Steve, age 47 and a former minister, is the person who everyone goes to for help, and now he needs our help. As a hard-working employee of Carl's Building Supply, Steve is the main financial support person for his family of five. He will need to take some time off from work, so he will not be able to bring home his usual pay check for a while until he completes cardiac rehab.

All funds raises will go directly to the Heemstra Family to help pay medical bills, including the expensive helicopter transport, surgery, and ICU care, and support them financially in their time of need to pay everyday expenses while Steve recovers. Additionally, family and friends are encouraged to contact Marci directly with offers to donate meals or to help with house and farm chores or taking care of their dogs and goats.

We are very grateful to everyone who has already helped Steve, including East Jefferson Fire Rescue firefighters/paramedics, Airlift Northwest flight crew, Harborview Medical Center staff, family, and countless friends.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR GENEROSITY AND PRAYERS!
