Help Max & Flor Catch Up

I've created this GoFundMe because my wife, my inspiration, my love and life, Flor de Canela, recently went to the ER due to severe insomnia, along with other compounding symptoms of anxiety and depression. She’s been dealing with depression and anxiety along with restless sleep for years. However, the insomnia has grown worse over the past few months and reached a point that new symptoms (debilitating dizzy spells, usually followed by ringing in her ears as well as other symptoms) began affecting her health and well-being. We’ve been in contact with her PCP and neurologist to find out what’s going on, but they haven’t found any answers and her conditions haven't been improving. Flor was feeling so mentally and physically exhausted that we were encouraged to visit the ER. While she was in the ER, they ran tests but couldn't find any answers either. I felt so helpless as to how I can comfort the wonderful love of my life, and I’m at a loss as to what I can do to help her get better.

Because of all this, she has been missing work and they don’t provide any kind of paid medical leave. As a result, we’re getting behind in our bills. I'm doing the best I can, working extra hours at my job, but it’s not enough. We've talked about making a GoFundMe page in the past, due to our car being in an accident last year and other car repairs this year, and we’ve had large tax bills for the past two years. On top of that, our rent is going up at the end of the summer and our car lease is ending in the fall, so we’ll need to figure out a new car situation soon. These expenses, in addition to the increased medical bills, have depleted a lot of our savings and we’ve had to use credit cards to pay some bills, which doesn’t help.

At this point, we’re asking for help in getting caught up on our bills so we can regain our financial composure. That way, we’ll be in a more stable place mentally and emotionally as we continue trying to solve the problem of Flor’s insomnia. Additionally, we’ll be able to take better care of ourselves, and return to being the supportive, creative team of Max & Flor--making comics and art again side by side, more awake and more fully alive.
