Medical Need- Wheelchair Van

Campaign cancelled. Hello, were the Crowley Family from Berlin, NH.On May 25, 2019 our quadriplegic brother , Robert was admitted into our local hospital in rural Northern , New Hampshire for pneumonia, he developed sepsis and Encephalopathy with heart and respiratory failure on May 31,2019 and was Life Flighted to a Trauma level 1 medical hospital in Portland, Me, from Berlin, N.H.The life flight bill is 14,000.00, which we believe Medicare will pay some of. Our brother was disabled as a c5/c6 level quad at 21 years old in 1984 and does not receive much for disability to live on. Medicare cutbacks over the years has made acquiring needed medical equipment difficult. Our brother is in need of a replacement wheel chair van as his old van has a rusted frame, that can not be repaired to pass State inspections, rust from the harsh New England winters and road salt. The siblings are helping to pitch in to get our brother the medical equipment he needs to follow through with with health care, such as buying electric wheel chairs and lightweight wheel chairs , medication co-pays and other various medical supplies, however, with increasing costs of medical supplies and a new wheelchair van will cost over 60 thousand dollars, we ask for help to get him into a descent used wheelchair van the estimated cost is roughly 30 thousand dollars. We can’t do it all, we need help. Living in a rural area makes travel by public transportation by wheelchair very difficult, with some medical trips being over 200 miles round trip, our brother’s life depends on us being able to get him to medical facilities, which include Maine Medical Center in Portland, Me. Dartmouth Medical Center in Lebanon NH and local doctor’s and hospitals, local meaning a 50 mile round trip ride in some cases. All his scheduled public transport trips have to be pre-approved by Medicare subsidy Insurance, and they don’t always cover his transportation and he misses many medical appointments, which is how he fell ill. With as many years we have dealt with the medical expenses and paying “spend downs” for Medicare, our brother could use the extra help, we ask if you could please make a donation towards a handicap, wheelchair van for him, at this point , his most critical need. If you could please share this Go Fund Me with friends and family to help our brother, you will have our deepest gratitude for making a person’s life a bit easier and healthier. It will enable his wife and family to bring him to doctor’s appointments and get him to a hospital for lab work and needed heart and lung tests to assure he has the quality life he deserves.Goal 20,000.00 towards a handicap/wheelchair van with a wheel chair lift.
