Mike Mosher’s Burn Recovery Fund

Donation protected
On Saturday, June 8, 2019, Mike was doing what he usually does on the weekends, working around the yard and hanging out by the fire pit. Unfortunately, this normal activity of his had a turn for the worse and he was involved in a terrible fire accident right in his backyard. EMTs transported him to St. Mary’s Trauma Unit where they quickly decided that he needed to be trauma hawked to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Burn Center in Miami.

Mike has been suffering 3rd-degree burns on 46% of his body. Almost all of his burns are located on the front of his body. His abdomen and both legs are the most critical as of now. His right hand, chest, and face have also been burned but are healing well day by day. Twice a day the nurses and doctors assess his burns during dressing changes and let us know how his healing is progressing. Since he is in ICU with open wounds he is at high risk of infection. As of now, visitation is limited to immediate family until they can move him upstairs once the risk is lowered. When that time comes it’ll be up to his discretion on visitation. We have been informed that this type of recovery is going to be that of a marathon and not a sprint. Mike has a very long recovery ahead of him and we know that he has such a huge support behind him.

This accident has greatly affected our family, as well as our dynamic. There are so many people that care for our “Big Bear” Mike. With that comes a lot of calls, texts, and questions. Our family really appreciates all of the support but we are finding it difficult to continually talk about the accident and everything that is happening day to day. We will be posting updates here on this page so that everyone can keep up with Mike’s road to recovery.

Anyone who knows Mike knows that he is always helping people in anyway he can and rarely ever asks for anything for himself. Well now he needs our help, as well as our love and support throughout this long road to recovery. Many people have suggested starting a GoFundMe page but we were unsure of the idea because we as a family are not accustomed to asking for help, especially financially. However, it has come to our understanding that we will need some financial support. We are also aware that our friends and family want to help in anyway they can and this would be a great opportunity to do so. So we need to set aside our pride and get the assistance we need to help Mike fight through this nightmare.

We thank you all for your contributions and most of all your prayers and well wishes.
