Help us replace our people carrier

Ysgol Y Gogarth Inclusion Project. In September 2017 twelve students at Ysgol Y Gogarth were identified, who would benefit from the challenge of GCSE courses at our local mainstream school, Ysgol John Bright. As well as the opportunities for social inclusion that a mainstream environment would provide, much work was done to develop a relationship with Ysgol John Bright - to enable this to happen. They have been incredibly supportive. This initiative has proved a great success. No one has dropped out, in fact additional students have asked to join the project and students have requested and started additional GCSE courses. Subjects being studied are: Maths, English, Religious Education, Art, Child Development, ICT and Computer Science. Some students will sit their GCSE final exams this June. Predicted grades are good. Due to the success of the project last year, an Inclusion class has been established and a teacher with responsibility for Inclusion has been appointed in September 2018 (Me) The class spend about half their week in Ysgol John Bright, the remainder in Ysgol y Gogarth or on link courses with Llandrillo College. The students love the opportunity that this project provides. There has been a measurable impact in engagement, confidence and learning. This has opened up significant opportunities for our students when they leave Ysgol y Gogarth. They should achieve a good range of GCSE’s and crucially, developed the skills to work in a mainstream environment alongside their peers. These young people are more confident, independent and ambitious. We hope to develop this project for all Ysgol y Gogarth students for whom it is appropriate, as well as exploring inclusive opportunities for younger learners. Our current people carrier is over 15 years old & this would enable us to purchase, a good quality, second hand 'adapted' people carrier. I am so proud of what my students have achieved, since starting this Inclusion Project & what it will offer our future students too. A new vehicle would benefit the whole school & the residential side at Llys Gogarth - not just the Inclusion Project, so please donate to this great cause. Thank you for reading.
