Siblings Kidney Transplant

I am Felisa Ramos and this is my niece Pamela Patague. Pamela is one of the most caring and loving person I know. She has helped me and my family a lot and now it’s my turn to help her. When you see Pamela, you can’t tell that she is sick because she is always smiling but Pamela is very sick and starting this GoFundMe is one way I can help her out.Pamela was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease in 2015. Pamela changed her diet and worked out to make positive life choices, but her kidney function continued to diminish. In 2018, Pamela was advised by her nephrologist to start peritoneal dialysis to help her body filter waste from her blood. She had a catheter implanted into her abdomen and she connects to a machine next to her bed 8 hours every night. Dialysate fluid is circulated into her peritoneal (abdominal) cavity by using the PD dialysis machine called a cycler. The fluid then absorbs the waste, toxins and excess fluid from her blood, which are removed when the dialysate is drained. Pamela has been on home dialysis for over a year and a half and is under close observation by the wonderful staff of DaVita. She continues to stay positive and work full time during these tough times.After 2 years of looking for a matching kidney donor, UC Davis Medical Center has informed Pamela that her youngest brother, Preston, is a perfect match. Pamela and Preston are scheduled for surgery at UC Davis Medical Center ‪on July 15, 2019‬. Preston is giving Pamela an amazing gift but its also a long and difficult road for Pamela. After the surgery, antirejection medications will be part of Pamela’s life permanently. Pamela will have to be in Sacramento for several weeks to months following the surgery for UC Davis to monitor her new kidney functions and levels of medications.This surgery will become a financial strain to her and her family. Pamela will be needing support from friends and family to help get through this difficult time in her life. The help you give will do many things for my niece. It will give her a peace of mind to travel back and forth for appointments, to help compensate for her loss of wages while recovering and to assist her family in paying for some of the antirejection medications.  This entire journey has been difficult for Pamela and her family. Her fiancé helps keeps her strong through this difficult time. As her Aunt, I am here to ask for help from friends and family to give support to Pamela.
