Sergio Silva

Dear friends , as you all know by now, Sergio has been battling with cancer for a number of months. He recently undertook a very serious operation and he has been recovering well. Unfortunately the prolonged chemotherapy he received afterwards has not been successful in holding back the  cancer as doctors had hoped. 

More recently his doctors have  attempted to admit Sergio into an  immunotherapy trial at Murdoch Hospital but unfortunately he was not eligible  for the trial as patients need to have only one type of cancer to participate. Sergio is now battling two types of cancer and this means his chances of being admitted to any further trials may be jeopardised. 
(Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment which assists the body's immune system to fight cancer)

Doctors are continuing to look for an immunotherapy trial for Sergio but for the time being nothing is on the table. Radiotherapy is not recommended as it runs the risk of damaging the oesophagus.
In the next two weeks they will be doing a scan of Sergio's lungs to see how that is progressing.

I thought this gofundme page may be a way of telling Sergio and his family we are there for them despite the setbacks and a way to relieve some of the financial strain they have already been through.
With a little effort from each of us we can bring a measure of security and certainty to an already difficult situation and show them our love and support.

So many of you have reached out already and we know this family has been in your prayers and thoughts from the beginning , please continue to pray and support them in whatever way possible.
