Let’s Help Avalynn Get Some New Wheels

Donation protected
Avalynn came into this world tenacious and vibrant. From the very beginning she has had a love for life and everyone in it. She can’t tell you how happy she is to meet you or see you again, but she will make sure you know that she is with a huge smile and a tight neck hug if she can. She has a congenital malformation of the cerebellum called Dandy-Walker syndrome. It hinders her motor skills and muscle control, but she has made incredible strides since starting physical therapy at six months old. Currently she has a stroller style wheelchair that has to be pushed by someone, she doesn’t have access to the wheels and it cannot be fitted with manual wheels. Since starting ESE pre-K in October 2017, she has been able to utilize different equipment at school and build up her strength. When she received her wheelchair, she had very poor arm strength, but now can use anything with manual wheels to cruise her classroom. It’s become evident that she has the capability and desire to move herself around this world and loves the independence of being able to do so. The paperwork to gain approval to order a manual wheelchair via insurance has been started, but it is very unlikely Tricare will pay for any of the cost as they have a five year policy for wheelchairs. The wheelchair submitted for is highly adjustable for height, making it the only pediatric wheelchair she will need as she gets older. The family plans to donate her current wheelchair. Let’s all pull together and help this wonderful family get this beautiful little girl a new set of wheels.
