Team Charlie Danger

On March 16, 2019, our sweet nephew Charlie Danger came into this world. Just a few hours after his birth, Charlie was unfortunately diagnosed with a very rare form of congenital leukemia. We now know that Charlie’s leukemia was caused by an unforeseen gene rearrangement in utero. At just one day old and only 6lbs 15oz, Charlie received his first round of chemotherapy.

Charlie’s diagnosis of B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia is extremely rare at his age, affecting only about 1 newborn every 2 years. Due to its rarity, much research is still being done on the most effective ways to treat his cancer. Charlie and his parents are currently receiving excellent care at Golisano Children’s in Rochester, NY. Their oncology team has consulted some of the top specialists in the country in order to give him the best fighting chance. With a 30 day induction to chemo plan underway, we ask for your thoughts and prayers that Charlie responds positively to his first round of treatment. So far he has blown us away with his strength.

Given the aggressive nature of his cancer, the next steps in the treatment plan will most likely consist of a bone marrow transplant once he reaches remission. This procedure is high risk for a newborn so will require second opinions and long term hospital care. As a family we remain hopeful that Charlie will be able to undergo this big step.

The last month has been stressful and emotional for Allison and Rob, as no one should ever have to go through this. As a family we do not want them to worry about the financial burden of any care, and want to make sure we get Charlie what he deserves regardless of the cost. We are hoping that by pulling all of you together, we can make that possible. Charlie is a fighter and we need to give him the best shot possible at beating this thing! After all, his middle name is Danger.

All funds raised in this campaign will go directly to my sister, Allison Marshall, as the beneficiary of this account. Funds raised will be used for medical expenses, and those not will be used to create a memorial fund at the hospital Charlie was treated at, in order to aid families with critically ill children experiencing long hospital stays. This account was set up by Kelsey Marshall, from Chicago IL.
