Funeral Expenses For Crissy Hurd-Johnson

On Friday April 5, 2019, our lives changed. We received a call that Crissy had been taken by ambulance to the hospital. When we arrived, we were told she simply had some cysts on her ovaries. That night doctor came in and said her bloodwork from the morning compared to the bloodwork that evening had drastically changed and she needed emergency surgery. They took out her ovary that had a baseball size cyst and drained the rest. That’s when our world changed. She’s been in ICU since. She had gone in septic shock after somehow getting an infection including E-coli. Her organs started to shut down, her blood pressure was dangerously low. Chest tubes and a ventilator were placed and dialysis was started. On Wednesday, April 10th they said she had been in septic shock too long and there was nothing else they could do for her. We prayed and the church members were here and prayed. The pastor did an anointing. Her lactic acid was at a point of no return (11). Within 3 days, her lactic acid level was back to a normal range. OUR CRISSY WAS GOING TO LIVE!Today she’s still on a ventilator and dialysis. She’s starting to open her eyes but even her pupils are swelled. She has a long hard recovery ahead. The next 72 hours they will determine what amputations are needed to her fingers and toes that suffered damage due to meds to keep her alive. Like the doctor said...life over limb! She’s going to be in the ICU for quite some time and then inpatient therapy then hopefully home with in-home help.
We were hesitant to do this but are starting this because she’s loved by a lot of people that have asked to help financially because she will have huge medical expenses including extensive after care. Monies collected will go 100% to her care. Thank you for all of your prayers, visits, food and love. UPDATE 5/2/2019
Crissy has been moved to KU Medical Center in KC. The surgeons in Salina had to remove her stomach and part of her bowel. She now has another infection. They have left her surgical site open.
In KC they are washing her out every day to clean infection. This means her surgical site will remain open. She will lose some fingers and toes still but that is down the road. Also down the road they will do a procedure to connect her intestine to her esophagus.
She has a long road ahead. Donations will go towards her home adaptions, medical care and to assist family that is staying in KC with her.
