Thieves Take Everything From Youth Softball Team

On April 13th, our team woke up at a McDonough hotel to find all of their equipment stolen, along with the head coach’s truck. Over $5,000 of team equipment was locked in the back of the truck when thieves stole it in the middle of the night. Today has been one full of life lessons for the 14 teenage girls. They have learned how fortunate they are to have the gear, how it feels when someone takes things from you, and how others can come together in the name of the sport when needed. Although other teams have been nice enough to allow our girls to borrow gear today, we have to start from scratch tomorrow morning and begin to rebuild. Many don’t realize how much it takes to keep a team who plays year-round up and running! We lost buckets of balls, bats, tees, hitting nets, catcher’s gear, gloves, helmets, bags, etc. Every piece of team gear was in the truck, in addition to Coach Schroyer and his daughter’s personal gear. Unfortunately, we have no team sponsors so these girls fundraise year-round to pay for all of the equipment they just lost. Thanks for anything you can give!
