One Team, One Dream

Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Weinberger and I am a special educator at Westside Elementary in Baltimore City. I've worked at Westside for five years now,  teaching grades from pre-k through 5th grade throughout the years. By working with so many children and families, I've had the opportunity to see what they go through on a daily basis in comparison to what they deserve. Please read below to learn about what's currently happening with our school community:

 Westside Elementary and John Eager Howard Elementary are two Baltimore City Public Schools that are located in the North West area of our city. A year ago, that area was the exact place that was transitioning through chaos and heartbreak as we watched the aftermath of Freddie Gray's death unfold in our streets. 

This year, the two schools are about to embark on another transition. Westside Elementary and John Eager Howard will be merging together as one school next year as the city makes changes through the 21st Century School Buildings Plan.  The students, families, and communities of our schools have certainly been through enough in the past year... and although this will be yet another big change, we are looking forward to this transition as a positive opportunity for two communities to come together. So, with that in mind, the staff of both schools are working together to create "One Team, One Dream".  

"One Team, One Dream" will be an all day event where the students, staff, and families of both schools can come together for an action-packed day of sports, games, food, and fun! Our goal is to purchase t-shirts for all of our students to wear during that day so they can show their new joint-school pride as they represent both our schools and our city that we love so much. Any donation towards our cause will  directly help lower the cost that we'd have to ask students and families for that have already been through so much. Please make our "One Team, One Dream" become a reality. Thank you!
