Natalie's Rhythmic Gymnastic's fund

$13,451 of $25,000 goal

Raised by 79 people in 74 months

Fifteen year old Natalie McGiffert of Topanga, CA., has recently been asked by USA Gymnastics - the American arm of the Federation of International Gymnastics - to join six other girls as a member of the U.S.National Rhythmic Gymnastics Group Team as they begin to train in Northbrook, Ill. for the 2013 World Cup Championships and ultimately for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Natalie and her father recently moved from Topanga, CA., to the area 26 miles NW of Chicago where Natalie has established residency, entered Glenbrook North High School as a sophmore and begun training with the National Team.

Natalie has been the Western Regional Champion and Athlete of the Year for five of the last six years. She has won numerous competitions across the country as an individual performer and is currently ranked in the top ten in the country. Everything Natalie has attained has come from her own commitment and dedication and courage. Her successes are entirely her own. The invitation to join the U. S. National Team is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ascend to the World Championship level of International Competition.

There is no financial help available from USAG or from any other outside sources to cover the expenses of training six days a week, 52 weeks a year and traveling to competitions in Europe and all across the U.S. This fund will be used solely for direct expenses having to do with Natalie's training, the meet entry fees, coaching fees and her travel to competitions.
It will allow a talented and committed girl to continue to strive for excellence in this hugely demanding and exquisitely beautiful sport.

I hardly ever dared to allow myself to think about what I am writing today. On August 13th, Natalie and her five teammates Alisa, Kiana, Jenny, Monica and Kristen - the USA Rhythmic Gymnastics Group -
leave for Rio de Janeiro to participate in the Summer Olympic Games.
Dreams do come true.

Natalie has become a young woman during these last four years in Illinois and I am sure she looks forward to being around all of you sometime soon.
But for now she joins her teammates on this, their last journey together. A journey that has formed a bond that will last a lifetime. Together they have done what most people assumed was an impossibility.
But what no one could see when they first began to train together four years ago was that they would become such close friends. Friends who unhesitatingly loved and supported each other through every situation they experienced together no matter how difficult.
Their coaches agree; this synergy the girls share is the part you cannot train.
But when you have it, anything is possible.

To everyone who has so wholeheartedly and generously given their encouragement and support to Natalie and our family during this most magical journey, we want you to know that we literally and figuratively could not have done it without you.
This is a final GoFundMe update so please, no donations.
We have been granted our fondest wishes.
We are deeply grateful.
Thank you.

The Rhythmic Gymnastics Group Qualification is on August 20th at 9am east coast time. It will be live streamed at nbcolympics.com

Against unbelievable odds it has happened.
Last Saturday in Stuttgart, Germany at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships,
the USA Sr. Group qualified for the Olympics.
Natalie and her five teammates are going to Rio in 2016.

It is beyond words to adequately express our gratitude to our family and friends
who have so unhesitatingly supported Natalie’s efforts over these last three years.
You have had a direct hand in helping to make this happen.

Natalie and her teammates have been given two weeks off to rest and to heal.
It has been a pressure packed season and soon it will be time to begin again.
A pre-Olympic year ahead with new routines,
new training hours,
a renewed dedication to their shared goal.
I will update you as the year progresses.

I have included video’s of their two routines at the World Championships.

Best wishes to you all.

Natalie - Good heavens, are you a high achiever or what! Fact is--and maybe this is just me--but as big and strong and brave (and pretty too of course) I kinda think you'd make a great Marine. Dunno. Anyway, I'm really proud to know you. Keep up the great work, and remember to have fun! As ever, your Weird Uncle Bill The Thrill
