The feelings of hopelessness and helplessness can render a person who is suffering from Mental Health Problems unable to engage in social activities and hiding their suffering from those around them who care and love them.

The promotion of Mental Wellbeing and Mental Health in Education continues to develop and is increasingly seen as a crucial element in the lives of young men and women.

The LIVIN organisation seeks to connect the community, through hope and help in order to alleviate the silence that surrounds Mental Health in Australia. Their vision is to “change the way society understands, perceives and interprets mental illness.”

For many, physical activity is a positive approach to dealing with Mental Health Problems such as depression and anxiety. Vigorous activity has been shown to promote the production of endorphins within the body and even moderate activity has been shown to lift mood and alleviate insomnia.  12 in 12, through marathon running, aims to promote awareness and funds in connection with LIVIN.

The daily struggles of managing mental health has impacted many of my family and dearest friends. As a primary school teacher, I believe our understanding and approach to mental health is crucial in the development of our future generations.
