12yr Old College Grad student DJ
My name is Jimalita Tillman & we are raising money for the continuing education of a 12 year old from the south side of Chicago, my daughter Dorothy Jean Tillman II (DJ). On July 14, 2018 Dj did something historic, she graduated with a Bachelors of Science. Our daughter is an award-winning child prodigy who graduated with her Associate's Degree at the age 10, Bachelor's Degree at the age 12, and is now pursuing her Masters of Science degree. Funds raised will be used for Graduate Studies in Sustainable Science and Environmental Planning. Your support will assist with: tuition, social/emotional support, housing, transportation /travel, chaperone, academic tutoring and supplies, as well as art expression. DOROTHY JEAN ON WINDY CITY LIVE
Dorothy Jean, who goes by the nickname, DJ, participates in an aviation program in Tuskegee, AL, where she flies Cessna 172 aircraft . She believes in giving back by hosting school supply drives for the inner city schools in her community . DJ also hosts STEM and performing arts outings for pre-K through high school aged students. Recently, Dorothy Jean was honored by Beverly Bond and Black Girls Rock as "Who Rocks Next" for her commitment to education, community, and culture. Click here for Black Girls Rock Recap
DJ is a featured writer for the State of Illinois' Bicentennial celebration and her recreation of the Gettysburg Address will be performed by the Chicago cast of Hamilton in December. (Dorothy Jean Pens Gettysburg 2018) Dorothy is a peer mentor and activist in Chicago, fighting for social justice issues such as education and economic equality. While studying and upon completion of her M.S., Dorothy Jean plans to travel across the US and abroad working with other youth to find ways to improve the conditions of the environment.
We are proud of our child and hope her hard work and dedication inspire a generation of sustainably conscious little ones. DJ is brilliant but she is also a very normal girl who is very active with her friends hosting slime parties, creating online content, and making clothes for their American girl dolls. This is a story that will spark joy and creativity. Let's change the narrative of what Chicago is all about.
Dorothy Jean’s story has been shared with millions of people and now its time for the NEXT CHAPTER! #masterplan
