I am looking to raise funds by participating in the York 10k for the benefit of a community within the Kasese District of Uganda who urgently require new prosthetic limbs (there are over 600 people affected by leprosy, with at least one newly diagnosed client every month).
Kagando Hospital began as a treatment centre for people and many continue to depend upon it, regarding it as a refuge even if they live some distance away: they can often meet prejudice and hostility in their daily lives ; at Kagando they are understood, welcomed and cared for .
New replacement prosthetic limbs each cost £120 -£150; well beyond the means of most amputees.
Your donation can not only significantly reduce their suffering and hospital admissions ,but will offer them hope and restore dignity .
