101 year old Victim of Elder Abuse

My grandfather, Bernie, is 101 years old and has lived in New York City all his life. As his needs increased with his age, as a family, we hired someone to live in as his caregiver. We trusted this person with his daily living needs and to keep him safe.

In April 2018 the severity of the exploitation was brought to light, when we discovered that the ‘caregiver’ had emptied not one, but several of his bank accounts. This person never deposited rent cheques, leaving months of rent arrears. With his life savings gone, and housing in question we are asking for financial support to ensure the rest of his life is spent peacefully, not worried about money or where he will live.

Your donations will go towards; ensuring he is able to keep and maintain his apartment where he has lived for the last 7 decades, replace items that were taken from the home (incl. cleaning supplies, bedding, furniture, door handles, light fixtures), personal care supplies, and groceries.

He is an incredible man who has lived a wonderful life, please help us make sure the years he has left aren’t shadowed in debt and worry.
