100 miles for a worthy cause- let's BE the change!

On May 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th, Sara Ashall and I will be running The Cotswold Way 100 Mile Challenge (https://www.run101.co.uk/our-events/cotswold-way-challenge/)! We are especially motivated because in addition to our love for running, we will be running for an amazing cause that is very close to my heart, a non-profit organization making a huge difference in East London, South Africa - Helping Those in Need. We are asking for your kind donations towards this cause.

Helping Those in Need is owned and run by a phenomenal couple, Matt and Marion Peake. The organization helps the broken, lost and abused by feeding them, caring for them, providing them with compassion that they do not receive elsewhere. Matt and Marion are making a visible difference in the community, but they operate purely on donations and the kindness of volunteers, which why we are asking you to sponsor our run to raise funds for Helping Those in Need.

East London has seen a drastic increase in the number of abused and abandoned children recently. Helping Those in Need are feeding 100’s of children daily. When feeding these children, they see many abused and mistreated children. They are witnessing children needing to be rescued but with no house of their own they have no choice but to leave children behind to face more heartache, which is heartbreaking.  Matt and Marion are therefore trying to raise funds to buy a property which would allow them to offer a home for up to 35 children and babies. Matt and Marion also have the goal of opening a shelter for the homeless and a women’s abuse center. 

This is a note directly from Matt and Marion:

We are not wanting to offer a safe house nor children's home but a HOME for the children whose souls and hearts have been ripped apart from abuse and neglect, we want to restore them with LOVE and COMPASSION which is what sets us apart from a children's home, we have seen the difference a MOM and DAD figure does vs a Children's home.

We go out to feed hungry children on the streets with our kids, and this has become such an impact of humbleness and gratitude, having undergone a double mastectomy just 5 months ago and having chemotherapy for breast cancer, was a life awaking. We are fighting a tough faith battle for my health and our hearts bleed to save as many children as possible.

We have a "Passion" to see lives changed and None of these children asked to be in the positions they're in, making it even more of a must to save these lives from certain death giving them hope for tomorrow, giving them love as if they were our own children and teaching them what it means to love without worry. No one adopts kids over 10 years old right? We want to love these children that feel unworthy that feel unwanted.

Every cent/penny counts and any amount you can spare will be greatly appreciated. All donations will go directly to Helping Those in Need.
