100.9 WXIR-LP is a low power FM radio station serving the community of Rochester, NY. Our goal is to serve underrepresented communities through radio programming submitted by volunteer radio hosts and DJs. WXIR-LP is owned and operated through RCTV, an award-winning non-profit public access TV station and community media center.
Mission
Our mission is to provide Rochester City residents with vibrant, community-focused radio programming, with youth outreach as one of our important focuses.
Goals
• To democratize and enrich the local media landscape by giving a voice to un-represented or underrepresented members of our community
• To increase the diversity of musical programming available on-air locally; to provide local performers with an opportunity to share their music
• To provide an educational media platform for issues-oriented information and discussion
• To provide a platform for our community’s youth to share their voice while learning critical technical and communications skills
Why Your Donation is Needed
Our station needs technology and infrastructure updates that will allow us to broadcast seamlessly and consistently. Your donation will help us purchase microphones, make important upgrades to programming automation, complete necessary construction in order to host live on-air broadcasts, and increase our connection to the our community. These updates will allow us to be more dynamically connected to the you in real time, and allow listeners to participate in the broadcasts.
We anticipate raising the funds we need by July 31st so that construction on the facility can be completed during by Fall 2017. We thank you in advance for your support and generosity!
