On Saturday, April 21, 2018, BFAM, Inc., the Douglas County Sheriff Station and the Douglasville Police Department will host its First Annual Bobby Tillman 5K Walk/Run of Love at Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville, GA from 7:30 AM - 11:00 AM. Registration begins at 7:30 AM and the race will start at 8:00 AM.
The Bobby Tillman 5K Walk/Run of Love will benefit the Bobby Tillman Scholarship Fund, founded by BFAM, Inc. (Bobby's Family, Incorporated), a non- profit organization that serves a centralized resource for the youth in our community whose common goal is to enrich the lives of the youth in our local community and beyond. The Walk/Run of Love will be a fun and healthy event for all ages and abilities. The event will also include refreshments, music, and event fair/business expo for the entire family.
On Sunday, November 7th, Bobby Tillman, a Georgia teenager, was randomly beaten to death by teens outside of a local house party. Bobby's murder inadvertently started a nationwide movement. At 18, Bobby had a bright future ahead of him with a focus on giving back, working hard, and making difference. Today, his mother carries a banner and message of love, acceptance, and tolerance through volunteer work, rallies, and speaking engagements across the state of Georgia and beyond.
The objective of the Bobby Tillman 5K Walk/Run of Love Race is to actively and monetarily assist our high school graduates. Our youth have many obstacles in their path to achieve a college education; we want to help eliminate a portion of the financial burden.
