Lucy and Squirrelly's Medical Fund

Donation protected

On Thursday April 27th Squirrelly passed away.
A dog I was watching for a couple that just moved into the city got free from her blocked off area in the living room and Will and I came home to a horrible scene.  She never showed signs of aggression, just whinnying and wanting to go chase them when she saw the cats. We kept the cats in our room with the door shut when we were home and let the dog roam around. We created a blocked of area with a giant kennel in the living room for when we left the house. My husband and I were only gone for about 2 hours and when we came home to our cats, Squirrelly was laying motionless on the ground. Will was able to find Lucy under a chair so we rushed her to the 24 hour animal hospital. She had bite marks on her backside and wasn't moving her back leg.
After a week of worrying, nerve damage, a blood transfusion, MRI, lots of medicine and scrapping together any resource we could get we had to make the decision to put her down on May 5th. Lucy had a rare blood type, type B, it was almost impossible to find and she needed it within a few hours. She needed a second blood transfusion to make up for her losing blood cell count.
It was a very difficult decision to make but we didn't want her to suffer anymore. Lucy and her son Squirrelly are buried next to each other in a forest.  They lived a great life.

Will and I are making this campaign to raise money for the medical bills that have pilled up. Not just for us but for another few people that have helped us tremendously. We want to be able to give back to them. We also aimed the goal a little high so if we got any extra we want to donate it to a medical fund for animals that need emergency surgery. Not everyone can drop a lot  of money in a single night let alone a full week and nor should then have to in order to save their fur babies life. The total bill for Lucy being in the animal hospital was $11,505.59.

We thank everyone that has supported us in these last few weeks.

Love,

Jen and Will Bennett
