Hi my name is Mark Thorne I’m Chairman of Yate Town Fc, the club has joined forces with GWAAC as its charity for the next year,
to kick off the partnership i am going to walk a marathon on the 1st Oct around the pitch at the south west interiors stadium, the money raised will be split 50 50 with Yate Town Fc boost the playing budget and the amazing GWAAC
Philippa Walker, Supporter Engagement Coordinator at GWAAC, said “This partnership with Yate Football Club is a wonderful opportunity to help raise critical funds to keep us flying whilst raising awareness of the lifesaving work, we do in our region. Our critical care crew attended Yate 15 times already in 2023 and were called a total of 29 incidents in 2022. We never know where we’ll be called to next but with the generous support of Yate Town FC and our shared community, we can get there to help the people of Bristol and beyond in need of lifesaving care. We are so grateful to Mark Thorne and everyone at Yate Town FC and look forward to some enjoyable fundraising events over the next few months!”
Our crew of Specialist Paramedics and Critical Care Doctors bring the emergency department to the patient and perform potentially lifesaving procedures which are not available in a standard land ambulance. These can include blood transfusions, anaesthesia, amputations, and even certain heart surgeries. GWAAC receive no day-to-day funding from the government and rely on the support of our incredible community to keep us flying to ensure that we can be there on someone’s worst day. Supporting GWAAC means our critical care crew will be ready to respond wherever we’re needed next. With each mission costing an average of £2,000 and with £4 million annual running costs, GWAAC is funded almost entirely by charitable donations from supporters like you. Your support helps cover costs incurred on a daily basis such as medical equipment, fuel costs, clinical crews, premises costs and other running and support costs. We are constantly looking at ways to improve our service and we incur regular financial demands to ensure the crew has the most efficient and up to date equipment, kit and uniform including flight suits and helmets. Our continued commitment is striving for better: better resources, better care, better outcomes. Together, we will continue saving lives.
