WOO's Big Move: Keep A Workshop of Our Own alive!

Tax deductible
A Workshop of Our Own (WOO) is MOVING and we need your support to make this transition and prevent our organization from closing! Transitioning out of the pandemic has been a difficult struggle for us, but with your support, WOO can keep our doors open in a new space and continue running-- and growing-- our educational programming.

WOO is fiscally sponsored by Fusion Partnerships, Inc, a 501(c)3 non-profit. Your donation goes through Fusion to WOO. Learn more about Fusion, our fiscal sponsor, by clicking here.

Who We Are:
WOO is an educational woodshop for women and nonbinary people in Baltimore, MD. WOO opened its doors in April 2017 and provides in-person woodworking and furnituremaking workshops, open shop hours, community space, and virtual workshops for people underrepresented by gender in the fields of woodworking and furnituremaking. Our programming is for people of all skill levels and backgrounds.

Why We Need To Move:
While our current space is gigantic and beautiful, with soaring ceilings, it isn't fitting our needs, and our overhead costs are too high to stay open at our current location. We found a wonderful space just down the street from our current woodshop, and we are excited to start our next chapter! We have had an amazing six years in our current woodshop, and now it's time to move into our next six years. Our new spot will be smaller, but it will have HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING! And the new space will be more streamlined and straightforward for students, teachers, and WOO members to use and easily learn where all the tools and supplies live. (Those familiar with our current, labyrinthian space may be extra excited about this aspect!)

The new space will be much more financially manageable for WOO, letting us focus more on our mission of providing woodworking training, clubs, and events for our members and students.

There is much work to be done at the current space and the new. We'll be hosting lots of volunteer days and LOTS of tool and material sales! We need your financial help to make the move a reality and keep WOO open in the future!

Where Your Donation Goes:
Your donation will pay for:
  • Moving costs (truck rentals, dumpster rentals, moving materials, etc)
  • Shop set-up costs (painting, installing storage and shop fixtures, running electrical to our machines, etc)
  • General operating expenses (rent, utilities, paying our instructors, buying materials and consumables, etc)

WOO relies on the financial support of amazing community members and donors to run our project, and we need your support now more than ever.

A Workshop of Our Own is a fiscally sponsored partner of Fusion Partnerships, Inc, a 501(c)3 non-profit. This means that your donation to WOO is a donation through Fusion Partnerships, who handle our financial accounts and provide us with institutional support and guidance.
