SS Fernglen Wheelhouse Restoration

Want to join me in making a difference? The PORT BURWELL HISTORICAL SOCIETY is in the process of restoring the wheelhouse from the former SS Fernglen.

The Historical Society rescued the wheelhouse from the scrapheap and installed it the Port Burwell Marine Museum to provide addition exhibit space.

Unfortunately, the plans to restore the Wheelhouse as an artifact dedicated to the shipping and commerce of the Great Lakes Freighters had to be put on hold due to the COVID pandemic.

At our Annual General Meeting in January, 2023 the Society members unanimously decided the time was right to resurrect the Wheelhouse restoration project. It was decided to divide the space into three separate zones of interest: The Pilothouse (interactive exhibit), The Captain's Quarters (static exhibit) and The Aft (multi purpose facility).

In order to do this restoration properly and provide a museum quality exhibit, we need your financial help. Any donation you can make will help make a positive impact.
