Send Manitoba Artisanal Cheeses to New York!

The story of cheese is one of lore...

Since the dawn of time (or, at least 7000 years ago) we have been souring milk, storing it in clay vessels, nurturing symbiotic bacteria and watching it ferment into the soft, creamy, delicate, funky and molded mouthfuls that have formed the backbone of culinary traditions all over the world for centuries.

The story of cheese in Manitoba is growing - and we want to help it thrive. Two of our three provincial artisanal cheesemakers aim to send their traditional cheeses across the border to the American Cheese Society's international competition to be judged with 1400 other special curds across the western hemisphere this summer.

They need your help! We are fundraising to get them get closer to paying for their cheese to travel, to be housed and to enter the competition.

Unique Brazilian Dairy - owner, Fabiola Della Pria - produces an authentic Brazilian cheese over 300 years old called 'Minas Fresca'. Minas Fresca is a a bright, fresh cheese ready to accompany any dish. Unique Brazilian Dairy also makes BBGrill, a firm cheese great for grilling (sample at St. Norbert Farmers' Market each week!) and so tasty with a dollop of 'doce de leite'.

Loaf & Honey - owner, Dustin Pelletier - Produces an aged & hand-washed Monastic 'Trappist' cheese that was passed down from Brother Alberic of the Abbaye of Our Lady of the Prairies Monastery in Holland Manitoba, but it's origins date back to the 1700’s. The Monastic cheese has been made in Manitoba since 1918!
