Memorial For Britney

On Friday, September 28th, 2018, 13 year old Britney Malone was brutally murdered in her home just 1 week shy of her 14th birthday.  This horrific tragedy also claimed the life of her step father. Her mother, Kathy, was shot in her head and back as she ran for help. She is fighting for her life in a nearby hospital. 

Bright, caring, happy, giving, and fiercely courageous are just a few of the ways we could describe Brit. She was a freshman at Compton High and had hopes of joining the cheer squad. Britney often spoke about her future: she dreamed of becoming a firefighter to help save lives.  Even though she had all A's and one B --in math, her least favorite subject, Britney was determined to bring that B up to an A. Recently, she became a candidate for college prep program Upward Bound. 

Our family has been devastated by this senseless act of gun violence and as we watch the candle collection on the porch of their home grow, we are reminded that she was also a light to her friends, classmates, and tight knit neighborhood. Britney loved us all with everything she had, and we would like to give her the celebration we know her mom would want her to have, and that she deserves. 

We are asking for help to cover expenses related to Britney's memorial services which include storage, transport, permits, professional cleaning of the house/crime scene, etc..

Any additional funds will be used to help Britney's two uninjured siblings who still currently live in the home. While we are diligently praying for the survival and full recovery for Britney's mother Kathy, we are unaware of any additional expenses that may result from her injuries at this time.  

The beneficiary of your donations is Britney's oldest sister Champagne Malone, and this campaign was created by her cousin Shayla on behalf Britney's family.

**** UPDATE****

My aunt, Britney’s mom, is still recovering from the gunshot wound to her head. We have told her, but she cannot retain information. She can swallow again and can walk with help now. Champagne is working to take care of things on her behalf.
