Help bus students to school
Dr. Beverley E. Allen, retired educator, curriculum specialist, and educational consultant in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A. jointly with Mrs. Aretha Obeng Tenkorang, Executive Director, Child Care and Development Center (CCDC), Sarpeiman, Ghana, West Africa are pleased to announce the 2015 School Bus Fund-raiser.
Having taught at the school as a volunteer, Dr. Allen continues to maintain a close relationship with the students, parents, educators, and administrators. Sarpeiman, Ghana is a small village located outside of the capital, Accra. CCDC currently has over 80 students attending our Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grades One through Junior High School classes where we provide instruction based on the Ghanaian curriculum for Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Science, History, French, and extracurricular activities such as Cadets and Sports.
Many of our students have to commute long distances to get to school daily. Some often get up early, leaving home before daybreak to make it to school on time. Due to the lack of adequate transportation our students are often absent, are late for class, are late in returning home, and are unable to complete their classwork and homework. This has affected their ability to function in school as many of them are often tired from the long journey. We believe that by providing our students with a school bus to transport them to and from school we will be encouraging them to increasing their academic experience, helping to increase their self-confidence, and helping to develop their life-long learning skills for college and beyond .
We are dedicated to the education of our students. Therefore, we appreciate your help with spreading this information about our fund-raiser. If you need additional information or would like to visit our school please let us know.
