Work the world Volunteering in Argentina

Work The World is an amazing organization that sends professionally skilled people into economically depressed areas to improve the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. My name is Kim Watkins I am a physical therapist currently working in the USA and have been asked to join the volunteer team in Mendoza, Argentina. Argentina may seem like a developed country, and in many ways it is, however the healthcare system is testament to the years of economic problems the country has suffered.

A Staggering 40% of the Argentine population does not have healthcare. Due to economic hardship, the hospitals in Mendoza are under-resourced with wards being under-staffed and lacking proper equipment. This places a significant impact on the poor and uninsured populations receiving care. The World Health Organization published a paper regarding a healthcare reform in Argentina. It stated that within the middle to low income populations, life expectancy and infant mortality rate are worse than other countries in the region. Furthermore, despite similar per capita income of the surrounding area's there is a lower healthcare expenditure. Your contributions will go to the organization Work The World. The money will help towards sending me to Mendoza.

The organization invests the money into the hospitals that people like me will be working in. Contributions will help towards funding, staffing and equipment within the hospitals. Any contributions will be greatly appreciated by myself, Work The World Organization, and the people of Mendoza.

The next fundraising event will be sloshball. Me and Mr Chris Day will be hosting a sloshball tournament on 11/3/13.

This how the tournament will be set up.

8 teams, single elimination, 15 players max, 12 players on the filed max.

Registration is minimum donation of 150 per team and at least a 30 rack of beer...bring food for pot luck. Registration closes 10/27.
