Wind für unsere Segel! – Wind in our sails! -       Find the English version below -  „MonteSegler gegen Plastik in den Weltmeeren“ – Abschlussschüler der Montessorischule Kaufering zwei Monate lang auf hoher See.  Wir, die Schüler der Abschlussklassen der Montessorischule Kaufering in Bayern, haben den Plan, eine ganz „besondere“ Studienfahrt zu unternehmen. An unserer Schule haben wir bereits sehr viele Umweltprojekte umgesetzt und möchten nun mit einer Forschungsfahrt einen wertvollen Beitrag zum Umweltschutz leisten.  Im Oktober wollen wir von Amsterdam mit der Meander, einem Zweimast-Stagsegelschoner, starten und zwei Monate lang über Südengland, Frankreich, Spanien, Portugal, die Kanarischen Inseln, Madeira und die Azoren wieder zurück zu unserem Ausgangspunkt segeln.  100-150 Millionen Tonnen Müll (75 % davon Plastikmüll) in den Weltmeeren führen dazu, dass jährlich über 1 Millionen Vögel und 100.000 Meerestiere daran verenden.  Wir wollen auf unserem Törn sowohl in den Meeren als auch an den Stränden Plastik und Mikroplastik suchen und sammeln. Dazu werden wir spezielle Netze zum Plastikfischen nutzen. Die Daten werden Forschungsinstituten und internationalen Umweltschutzorganisationen zur Verfügung gestellt und helfen dabei, einen flächendeckenden Überblick über den Zustand der Meere und Strände zu vervollständigen.  Wir werden nachhaltig mit Wind reisen, viel über Nautik und das Leben lernen und uns mit der Geschichte der Länder beschäftigen, an denen wir vorbeisegeln. Darüber hinaus werden wir uns mit erneuerbaren Energien auseinandersetzen, als Team zusammenhalten und uns persönlich weiterentwickeln.  In einem Blog werden wir das Projekt „MonteSegler gegen Plastik in den Weltmeeren“ dokumentieren sowie unsere Eindrücke, Erlebnisse und Erfahrungen teilen. (Link folgt!)  Für die Durchführung unseres Projekts, die Charterkosten des Segelschiffes, die Anreise und die Verpflegung benötigen wir finanzielle Unterstützung. Da wir allen Interessierten die Reise ermöglichen wollen und nicht alle Familien für die Reisekosten aufkommen können, hoffen wir auf zahlreiche Spender, Sponsoren und Unterstützer, damit wir die Segel setzten und unseren Beitrag zum Schutz der Weltmeere leisten können.  An alle Unterstützer ein herzliches Dankeschön im Voraus,   Eure MonteSegler   Environmental project “MonteSailors against plastic pollution in the world’s oceans” Montessori School students 2 months on the high seas.  We, the students of the Montessori School in Kaufering, Bavaria, share the idea of experiencing a very special excursion. Since our school has already realized a lot of environmental projects we would now be delighted to contribute positively to the protection of our environment with a research vessel. We plan to sail on a sailboat called Meander from mid October to mid December 2020, starting in Amsterdam. The sailing trip will lead us past Southern England, France, Spain, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Azores and back to the Netherlands.  100-150 million tons of waste which consists mainly of plastic lead to the death of 1 million birds and 100.000 ocean animals every year.  We plan to look for and collect plastic and microplastic at the beaches and in the oceans. We will do this using special nets that fish for plastic. The data will be collected and provided for marine research institutes and international environmental protection organizations and will contribute to getting a better and broader overview of the condition of our beaches and oceans.  We are going to travel sustainably using wind energy, learn about nautical science and marine life and study the history of all countries we will be sailing by. Furthermore, we are going to discuss renewable energies, and most importantly we will evolve individually as well as grow and develop as a team.  The project “MonteSailors against plastic pollution in the world’s oceans” is planned to be documented on a blog by us students. (link will follow!)  But in order to succeed with our project we need financial support for the charter costs, for our transportation fees and for catering. Unfortunately, not all pupils’ families who are involved in this expedition can afford the travel expenses.
