Bring my lost boys home

Donation protected
My name is Jackline and I live in Cavan with my three youngest boys.

In 2004, I was separated from my three oldest boys, Martin, Freddy and Denis, in Tanzania, when they were three, two and one years old. They remained with their grandparents whilst I was moved into a refugee camp with my fourth baby. Whilst I was in the refugee camp I received terrible and shocking news that Martin, Freddy and Denis had been travelling in a boat to Congo with their grandparents, when the boat sank, and everyone on board had died. I was devastated and didn't want to live anymore. But my fourth son was a baby at the time so I had to carry on for him.

I was brought to Ireland in December 2013 with my three youngest sons, from a refugee camp in Tanzania. I've been in Cavan for almost five years now, and have made a good life for myself here.

In June 2017, I received incredible news. My three eldest boys had been found alive, and living on their own in Tanzania.

Their grandfather had drowned when the boat sank, but the boys and their grandmother had been saved, and they had been living in Congo with her ever since. The boys had always been told that I had died, and that they didn't have a mother. Their grandmother died in 2017, and the boys were left alone. It was at this point that someone in their community began to ask questions about their family, and eventually the pieces were put together that they were my sons. Once this had been confirmed, the boys were brought to a refugee camp in Tanzania, where I traveled to see them in September of that year. They didn't recognise me and found it hard to call me mum. Since then, I have kept in regular contact with them, and I have organised all the documentation for them to join me in Ireland so that we can finally be reunited, and live together as a family.

I am trying to raise funds for their travel from the camp to the Irish Embassy in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Once they arrive at the Embassy, they will be accompanied to the airport to fly to Ireland.

I need to raise €500 for their bus fare and accompaniment to the Embassy, and a further €1500 for their plane tickets.

I cannot put into words how it would feel to finally be able to be together with my three lost boys.

Thank you for any help that you may be able to give us.
