<div>We are striving to improve the economic circumstances for the local community at Dunga. Because of pollution and overfishing, the fish population in Lake Victoria has decreased drastically. As this is the main source of income for the fishing community, their financial security has reduced, forcing them to find alternatives. Many of the villagers have shifted to eco-tourism. The boardwalk plays a vital role in this by offering national tourists and student groups a place to sit and view the surroundings, as well as educating them about the importance of preserving the natural environment of Lake Victoria and its surroundings. We aim to improve the design of the boardwalk, through co-creation with the local team and community, to increase its durability, aesthetics and environmental impact.
