During a short trip to Tijuana, he tried to comply with U.S. immigration rules by notifying authorities of his exit and re-entry. In a devastating error, he mistakenly submitted an asylum request instead of the required I-94 form. When he returned to the U.S. border, he was immediately detained, his visa was canceled, and he was thrown into an immigration prison.

<div>He has now spent nearly 10 months in detention at Winn Correctional Center ICE in Louisiana, living in limbo, with his future hanging by a thread.

<div>The U.S. government has ruled to deport him—<strong>unfortunately, it could be a deportation to Russia.</strong> Being gay in Russia is now life-threatening—LGBT individuals have been officially labeled as extremists, making them targets for imprisonment, violence, and worse.

<div>If we can secure an official document from a third country agreeing to accept him, he can avoid being sent back to a place where his life is in imminent danger. I legally live and work in Mexico, and we are fighting every day to have him deported here instead.

<div>Myself and Egor's close friends have already spent around <strong>$10,000</strong> on legal fees, doing everything in our power to stop his deportation to Russia. Now, we need to raise funds for any emergency expenses during the deportation process, as well as for the Mexican lawyers who are working tirelessly to secure his safe relocation to Mexico.
