Gone too Soon

In loving memory of Alex McGuire,

We all see movies, hear stories, and have those visions of what it would be like to receive that dreaded phone call in the middle of the night that something bad has happened.  On Monday night for some of us…that became a reality.

Between the hours of 11 and midnight on Monday January 14th, a series of calls were made to tell Alex’s loved ones that he was gone. To see the paramedics and police officers crowded aroundthe apartment, loved ones crying as the numbness sunk in.  To find out that a 27 year old Alex, perfectly healthy with no medical history or conditions unexpectedly passed.  We sit here trying to understand, trying to wrap our minds around this…

Although we do not have all the answers to share with you now on what caused this, we know that his family is in so much painthat we cannot even fathom.  Most of them reside out of state and received the call with no way to rush to him that night. To have to deal with all of this so suddenly with no warning and with no answers; to not be able to say what you want to say or give a last hug or kiss, is unimaginable. Then on top of that they are going to have to deal with the reality of the unthinkable with funeral arrangements, costs, etc.

So that is exactly why, we: a few of his closest friends have gathered these words to share with you all in hopes that you will help us to take some of the burden off his families back.  Although we will all dedicate ourselves to trying, it is very difficult for us to fully help through the emotional process of this. The least we hope to do is relieve some of the stress of the financial process that follows, as those of us that have went through this know that it is not cheap.

To tell you more about who you are donating towards…Alex was a guy that lit up every room he walked in to. His personality and smile were so infectious you couldn’t help but enjoy every second you were in his presence. Alex loved the game of basketball, binge watching TV shows and his sweet tooth always got the best of him. Above all of that he loved spending time with all of his friends and especially his family. Recently, Alex was blessed with a nephew and being an uncle was one of his greatest joys.

Through all of these joys one thing that we love about Alex was his ability to leave an impression on each person he came into contact with.  We would venture to say that anyone you talk to that knew Alex has a story to share with you of the memories they made. If in this time you are willing and able to help contribute to the family’s financial burden, alleviating any negative impressions of their last moments with their Grandson, Son, Brother, or Friend…any amount would be greatly appreciated.
