<div>Min storebror Mike har aldrig haft det nemt. En hård barndom, et liv præget af ensomhed og depression, og de seneste år har budt på det ene livstruende sygdomsforløb efter det andet.

<div>For 8 år siden blev Mike akut hjerteopereret med 3 dobbelt bypass. Kort efter blev han diagnosticeret med en alvorlig stofskiftesygdom. Depressionen og ensomheden førte ham ud i et liv med alkohol, men han kæmpede sig ud af det og kom i afvænning. Herefter fandt lægerne to knuder i hans lunge. Han blev opereret for lungekræft og fik fjernet halvdelen af venstre lunge.

<div>De troede, han var kræftfri…
</div>

</div>
<div>Men 8 måneder senere dukkede et sår på hans tunge op. Det viste sig at være mundhulekræft. Han gennemgik endnu en vanvittig operation og fik fjernet halvdelen af tungen – en smertefuld og traumatiserende oplevelse, som han stadigvæk forsøger på at komme igennem.

<div>I dag er Mike indlagt. Han vejer nu kun 66 kg – og det bliver svært at få ham i behandling. Et PET-scan har vist, at kræften har spredt sig. Prognosen er uhelbredelig.

<div> Det her er min storebrors virkelighed. Og mit største ønske lige nu er at give ham en sidste oplevelse i livet:

<div>Han har aldrig set verden udenfor vores lille land. Det er det eneste, han ønsker sig – at mærke varme, havet, roen og få nogle gode minder, før han måske ikke er her mere.
