Hello everybody, my name is Cody. I was born with a physical disability called Arthrogryposis(Learn about it here ) . It effects my arms, hands, legs, and feet.
All of my life and up until April of 2016, my mother has always been my primary caregiver. Unfortunately, within the past 5-years or so, my mom has fallen victim to drug abuse. Because of this, she ended up going to jail and unintentionally leaving me to fend for myself.
I live alone in my own home that I grew up in with my parents. My father, while there for me, is a raging alcoholic and usually spends every last dollar he has, on whatever he can buy to drink.
Even though I've been taken care of very well physically, by my friends and nurses, the absolute LAST thing I want is to end up being a financial burden on them as well.
Ever since my mother has been gone, I alone have been paying all of my own bills, as well as supplying my own food and household items. After everything is paid for the month, I am left with little to nothing to save up for my future.
The reason I've decided to start this page for myself is not so much to get help with my monthly obligations, but to help me be as financially prepared for the future as possible, and for any potential sudden emergencies like something important in my house breaking down.
If I do end up getting any donations, every little bit of it will be invested into what's called a STABLE Account(Learn about that here ) . A STABLE Account is for people with disabilities only, and has guidelines on how the money, once invested, can be spent.
With how scary the future can be for someone like me, it would be nice to at least have somewhat of a financial safety net to help back me up. So that's why I figured it couldn't hurt to make this page.
