<div>Hola, my name is Maya Casilda Acevedo and I am Beatriz Planter's daughter. Two years ago she, along with other family members and myself, were able to to buy an acre of rural undeveloped land, a project which we call La Colmena del Clan. This property is located outside the folkloric town of Tepoztlán, about an hour south of Mexico City. The plan is to develop the land in a way that increases the fertility of the soil, and to "plant" water by creating permaculture-inspired terraces to help with infiltration while also creating rainwater collection systems. All this in service to increase the health of the land &amp; water. Ultimately, the goal is to remediate this land to a more vibrant condition.

<div>My mama now has an opportunity to build her home and secure a more stable future for herself, and for all of us as that way we will have a home base built on the land. She is currently renting a place in town and lives at the whim of the landlady, like all renters.

<div>To date, mama Bea has been able to put in a foundation and a solid cistern (the video above is from October 2023 and the images below show the progress). She also has been doing significant permaculture-inspired terracing and other landscaping work, always with an eye towards restoring the soil and the water.

Hace dos años ella, junto con otros miembros de la familia y yo, pudimos comprar media hectárea de terreno rural, un proyecto que llamamos La Colmena del Clan. Esta propiedad está ubicada en las afueras del pueblo folclórico de Tepoztlán, aproximadamente a una hora al sur de la Ciudad de México. Actualmente está alquilando un piso en el pueblo y vive al capricho de la casera, como todos los inquilinos. El resto de la familia (otros 6 hogares) planean construir algo en el terreno durante un período más largo siguiendo los principios ecológicos.

<div>Como puedes imaginar, los costos de construcción han aumentado en México desde Covid, como lo han hecho en todos lados.
