<div>Hi, my name is Erandeni, and I’m the mother of Andrea, a brave 12-year-old girl from Durango, Mexico. Since she was a baby, Andrea has battled serious kidney issues. At just 18 months old, she was diagnosed with infantile nephrotic syndrome—a condition where her kidneys leak essential proteins into her urine. By age 8, she was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis after a kidney biopsy, and later her diagnosis changed to Chronic Kidney Disease.

<div>Andrea has spent most of her childhood in and out of hospitals, enduring countless treatments, medications, and now daily peritoneal dialysis. As of January 2025, this dialysis keeps her alive while we wait and hope for a kidney transplant.

<div>Unfortunately, there are no pediatric nephrologists in our city. We travel over 4 hours to Torreón for her to see her specialists. Andrea takes seven medications daily, many of which are not always available through the public health system. Her care also requires a strict diet, ongoing lab tests, medical supplies, a special room at home for dialysis, and psychological support.

<div>Despite all of this, Andrea remains strong, full of hope, and determined to live. But we can’t do this alone. Your support will help us cover the high costs of her medical care and prepare for the kidney transplant that will give her a second chance at life.

<div>Hola, mi nombre es Erandeni y soy mamá de Andrea, una valiente niña de 12 años que vive en Durango, México. Desde que era muy pequeña, Andrea ha luchado contra graves problemas en sus riñones. <div>En nuestra ciudad no hay nefrólogos pediátricos, por lo que debemos viajar más de 4 horas hasta Torreón para que reciba atención especializada. Andrea toma siete medicamentos al día, muchos de los cuales no siempre están disponibles en el sistema de salud pública. Además, necesita una dieta estricta, estudios constantes, insumos médicos, la adaptación de un espacio especial en casa para la diálisis y apoyo psicológico.
