***The initial situation is described below, and the updates reflect the progress.

On top of their 3 year old daughter's emergency hospitalisation :-

Kylie and Chad's dog Kira (who went looking for her family during Saturday night's storm) has just been taken to the vet seriously injured after an accident with a train.

This family is having a horror week.

             ................................................................

This is Rosie the Bear. She's keeping Alexis company in the children's intensive care unit (ICU)  in Sydney. But Rosie can't do the job all by herself. Alexis' mum and dad (Kylie and Chad) are by Alexis' bedside in Sydney, too, 24/7.

Alexis, Rosie and Kylie came by helicopter to Sydney during the early hours of Saturday morning (16th March). A very rapid viral pneumonia means Alexis' respiratory system failed her overnight, and she needs machine assistance to breathe.

Alexis has been in ICU seven days now, and there's no indication yet on when her lungs will be able to cope.

Now, the ICU can feed and house teddy bears (they don't eat much)...

... but Kylie and Chad aren't catered for. There are no kitchen facilities. All of us friends and family are too far away to take them a potato bake (or shout them a bad hospital coffee) to keep them going.

Other living away costs are adding up too.
Think of daily Sydney parking fees, the need to do laundry, and making sure Alexis' big sister is cared for while her family are away.

There's also Sydney accommodation costs to face, if Alexis improves enough to be moved to a ward. The ICU doctors have now decided that any recovery process will be done in Sydney too, in light of her current condition.

So -  instead of flowers -

☕️If you'd like to put in $10 to buy Kylie and Chad a hospital meal, and help them stay in Sydney with Alexis, please join us in lending them a hand.

And please, make sure you leave a message for them too!

(You all know them, it's been hard to get them to accept there were a group of people who want to help! Which is odd, given their professions...)
