As the CGCC TRA we aim to support residents in the area and preserve the close community we have created and sustained over the decades. Our community is primarily made up of social housing for the elderly and disabled. We aim to preserve our safe environment for the residents as well create a sense of ‘community spirit’ for all.
Unfortunately, the safety of our community is in the process of being compromised due to developers attempting to convert the former NCP car park (Farringdon Road, London, EC1) into a 180-room hub hotel. The car park is placed directly behind the elderly and disabled houses and will be a gross invasion of privacy and limit light into their homes and gardens as the building towers over them. The developers already plan to take away the residents gardens and one day it could be their homes.
The initial planning applications were denied due to not meeting the Finsbury Local Plan, however they have requested a Public Inquiry in the hopes of silencing the community. The developers are willing to challenge councils and overturn local policy to get their developments built, however inappropriate and irrespective of local community.
The developers have requested a Public Inquiry knowing that we do not share the same financial standing to invest in barristers and professional experts to push our agenda. However, with your help we could have a chance.
We have a chance to fight this planning application, we have a good defense and we have a voice. Please donate to this cause to aid our legal fees to fight these developments. Every penny will be invested in legal counsel to fight for our community and have a voice at the Public Inquiry against the developers. We want to ensure the safety of our residents, sustain their quality of life and save our community.
