Ryan Nash's Caelan & Presley Fund

Donation protected
On Monday I learned of the tragic death  of my [second] cousin Ryan Nash  while doing one of the many outdoor adventures that he loved--rock climbing with his girlfriend Dana.

Ryan leaves behind a large community of loved ones, and for all of us, I am deeply saddened. From the messsages, anecdotes, pictures and videos being shared, it's clear that Ryan not only positively touched a lot of people, but in particular during the last several years following the tragic loss of his dad, Jim Nash, he has grown into not just an amazing friend, son, and partner, but also a father.

Here is where I want to help. Over the coming weeks and months, Ryan's loved ones will face a lot of near term challenges, and for that I'm optimistic that the Mammoth Community and his local family will be amazingly supportive. As a father of three, I'm acutely aware of longer-term needs. I'd like to establish a nest-egg fund on behalf of Caelen Eve (13) and Presley (10) to invest in their future, in particular I'm thinking about college. My goal is to establish a fund that would be professionally managed on their behalf with me as custodian until they reach college age (something similar to what I am doing on behalf of my own children).

A little about me: My Name is Todd Harple , I'm a father of three (Sean, Hailey, and Griffin) and I'm Ryan's second cousin. We share great-grandparents on my mom's side. The Nash family has always been our "California cousins" coming into my life first when I was a young child even before Ryan was born (I'm seven years older) when BJ and Jim visited us in Pennsylvania before even they were married!

I reconnected with the Nash family after sailing around the world, then driving from coast-to-coast in 1992 (inspired in part by the coast-to-coast trip that brought BJ and Jim into my life in the 1970s). Since that time, I've earned Master's and PhD degrees, gotten married (just celebrated 20 years), become a father of three, and have worked for a major technology company for nearly 10 years.
