NAGARKOT RELIEF FUND NEPAL

Ever since 1974, Nepal has had a special place in my heart. As a Tour Manager,I escorted numerous tour groups to this tiny kingdom and in 1977 I escorted a group to the Mt Everest Base Camp. Whenever I was home and felt sad, I would jump on an airplane and fly to Nepal where I found solitude among the highest peaks in the world, the Himalayas. It was like they embraced me when I needed direction and a nudge. I have watched the Kathmandu Valley grow from the town it used to be in the 70's to the congestion and population of today. The Himalayas peaked out above the valley in the morning and evenings, then full on visions of these majestic peaks during the days. We would sit on rooftops drinking tea, fresh lime sodas and talk among the numbers of international souls who all felt the same way - visiting and embracing Nepal.

Today, Nepal needs the world like never before. Temples we walked through are now gone. Centuries of history and culture are now impossible to rekindle. Rooftops we sat on have disappeared. To this day, I can’t imagine the force of the Avalanche at Mt Everest Base Camp as it was such a distance from the peaks above. The force of the loss in Nepal is mind-boggling. 

Once again, this sacred place that has nurtured my soul is calling to me, and this is where I need your support:
On November 2, 2015, I will travel (on my own dime) to Nagarkot, Nepal. With donations in hand, and will work  with the Hill Station of Nagorkot, I will oversee the purchase of materials to build homes with materials from the local market. This way, we are helping twice through supporting the local economy as well as the villagers.
