James' Emergency Open Heart Surgery

Hey Y'all,
As many of you may already know, this week our beloved friend James was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital for emergency open heart surgery. James went into surgery Friday morning. Thankfully all went great and the doctors were able to repair the damaged valve. Our boy is currently out of the ICU and in recovery at The Heart Hospital of Austin (enjoying foot rubs and chocolate pudding with his family and friends).
Very fortunately, James has health insurance and so much of the procedure and recovery costs will be covered. However, as I am sure you can imagine, the out-of-pocket expenses James will need to pay are still extraordinary.
In addition, the doctors tell us the recovery time for this type of surgery is around 8 weeks, which means James will not be able to return to work for some time. Thankfully he is not at risk of losing his job, however, since he is a contract employee he will not be receiving any income while he is out of work recovering.
The outpouring of love from family and friends who have heard about the surgery has been amazing. Thank you to all who have reached out! It means the world to James.
As his friends we wanted to do more to help our guy out and so we thought we would set up this GOFUNDME page to raise money and help him offset some of those mounting costs. That way James can focus more on his recovery and worry less about his financial situation.
