Meet Zachary. Zach is our 23 year old son who has been diagnosed with Adnoid Cystic Carcinoma—an extremely rare type of cancer that can exist in many different body sites. It most often occurs in the areas of the head and neck, in particular the salivary glands which is where Zachary’s cancer was first diagnosed.
After receiving his first diagnosis, the Maier family consulted with a tumor board at a top university hospital, all of whom recommend that Zach consult a specialist at MD Anderson.
The consultation and treatment are quite expensive and will involve uprooting Zach and his support structure and relocating to Houston initially for a 5 to 7 day consultation, potentially followed by a much longer stay based on the care plan that MD Anderson comes up with. Your donation will also assist Zach with his personal expenses since he is not able to work at this time.
This is all about getting Zach the best care and support possible during his diagnosis and treatment. Zach is such a wonderful young man who is much loved by his family and friends—he has a quick wit about him and he enjoys woodworking, fishing, reading and hiking and we all want him to continue doing all the things he loves to do.
