Run, Cycle, Swim to iGEM Boston!

Donation protected
Hi there! We are the Glasgow iGEM team for 2015. On September 24th we will be competing in the Giant Jamboree in Boston, USA. We aim to run, cycle and swim the 3,029 miles it takes to go from The University of Glasgow to Boston to raise funds for our project and we would love for you to sponsor us!

iGEM is an international synthetic biology competition which aims to educate budding research scientists of the future. One of the aims of the competition is for all teams to attempt to build simple biological systems from standard, interchangeable parts and operate them in living cells.

Last years Glasgow iGEM team won a gold medal for their project where they aimed to create water-purifying bacteria. This year we hope to again win a gold medal and win a prize at the Jamboree. Our project focuses on producing bioluminescence in bacteria which is activated at night. We hope our research could be applied to next generation lighting.

You can follow our project on our wiki page below and view daily updates on how many miles of our Glasgow to Boston journey we have completed.
