Help Save Katie

2 days ago we saw a frighteningly skinny cat in our backyard.  It was clear that her left back leg was badly injured as she was not getting around well and could not put weight on it. 

She needed help, and quickly.  We brought her food and water as she could not go get it herself.  I examined her and confirmed that her back, left leg is broken just just below her hip joint.  She did not have any other obvious injuries. 

We called the local shelters and confirmed to our dismay that they would not try to give her the medical attention she needs, and instead would put her to sleep.  We could not bring ourselves to do this.  She clearly wants to live, has been through a lot, and yet has a strong spirit. 

So then we called the local vetrinary hospitals, and they estimated the costs to repair her leg and get her through this at $3,500, which is a special discount that several of the local hospitals offer for situatiuons like this.  Unfortunately, that is well beyond our means. 

So we are hoping that there are some generous, kind souls who want to help with this. 

We have given her the temporary name of Katie, and she seems to like it.  She purrs and rubs her nose on my hand when I call her Katie. 

We think she is young - about 4 to 6 years old, and I think there is every reason that she could fully recover if we can get her the medical attention she needs.
