Help Bratty the Doxie's Vet Bills

Donation protected
Update - thanks to everyone who's donated in so far.   Mom went to work today (where she wondered and worried about me for no reason at all) and came home to find me unfazed by her absence!   Thank you so much for your love, support, retweets, etc!!

HI there, my name is Bratwurst, aka Brat's Dragon Mist, aka Baroness Bratwurst von Richtofen, aka Princess Belly, aka Princess Poodle, but to my friends and family I'm just Bratty.

I'm an 11.5 year old female mini Dachshund and I live in Orange County, CA with my mom and my big brother Bowie.  I love belly rubs, cuddling, chasing squirrels and all things food related.

Three weeks ago my mom thought that I wasn't acting right so she took me to the doctor (I hate doctors) who diagnosed me with neck pain.  I went home with 2 medications and everything seemed okay until 2 am when I woke up crying in pain.  Long story short, I had to go back to the doctor the next morning for some more medicine and mom was told to keep me strictly confined for the next 8 weeks.

My favorite aunt went and bought me a very cool Sherpa carrier (it's a soft-sided carrier for small dogs like me) so that mom could keep me from being too active and to carry me around the house with her so that I'm never alone.   She even puts it on the bed with her and my brother when we go to sleep.

Mom had to take some time off from her work to stay home with me and make sure that I wasn't hurting or trying to do too much and to try and get me used to the carrier.   Four days later I was still uncomfortable despite being on muscle relaxants, anti-imflammatories and pain medications, so we made an appointment to see a neurolgist later in the week.  Unfortunately mom really needed to go back to work, so I went to stay with mom's best friend who knows all about Doxies and happily for me, works from home.

Mom cried when she dropped me off even though she knew that I'd be just fine there.  I guess she just loves me that much.   Mom's friend took such good care of me and she even took time off from her job to drive me to the appointment with the neurologist.

The doctor and the technician were both very nice to me and mom.  The doctor agreed that the right side of my neck was very painful and that I might have a slipped disc or an extruded disc.  To find out for sure what the diagnosis is they would have to perform an MRI while I'm under anesthesia.  Mom hasn't explained to me exactly what an MRI is, (though she says she's had one and it doesn't hurt a bit), but she did say that it was very expensive - $1,800.

Because it's such an expensive test mom decided to wait a bit and see how I did with very strict rest.  So I went back to her friends house and mom went back to work.

That was 12 days ago and so far I'm doing very well.  I came back home this past Saturday and my brother was so happy to see me!  We both wanted to jump and play to celebrate but mom said 'no way'!  I can go out in my back yard and walk around the house a bit, but I'm not allowed to jump on any furniture.  In fact, mom had to take our favorite chair out of the house so that I wouldn't jump on or off of it.  Mom has also had to put a barrier up between the living room (where we get to stay) and the kitchen so that I don't try to jump on the chairs in there.

Mom says that if I keep doing so well and I can stay quiet another 5 weeks then maybe we won't have to do the MRI.  I sure hope so - not only do I hate the doctor but I feel bad that I've cost my mom, aunt and best friend so much money already.  Between the 3 trips to the vet, the medications and the Sherpa carrier I've cost them $600.

While mom says I'm worth more than money I still want to try to help pay the bills.   So here I am on gofundme.com, telling the world my story and hoping that someone can help us with the bills a little
