Dicky Strangler's Solo Album Fund

My name is Andrew "Dicky Strangler" Strickland.  Some of you might know me as the guitarist for the band Long Distance Runners, or Sonny Tripp. Maybe you recognize me from television, trying to convince you to save energy. Or, perhaps you're a friend, an aquaintance, a family member, or you don't know who the hell I am at all.  Either way,  I am looking to you for assistance. 

In April of 2015, I entered the Lab of Chaos Studios with Krisjan Leslie (Long Distance Runners, The Once, The Novaks, Three Days Grace) to begin work on my first ever solo album.  I won't go into my whole history of playing an performing music, but the long and short of it is, the one thing I have wanted to do since I joined my first band at 13, was to make my own solo album.  However, I was always too nervous.  Too nervous that  nobody would like it, or too nervous that whoever was producing it wouldn't like the songs enough to put the care and attention into it, and I just didn't have the money to spend on it.  So, over the last decade, I have accumulated dozens of fully recorded demos that nobody has heard.  I am now turning 30 years old this year, and prior to last April, I went through some life altering events that caused me to decide that I NEED to do this and not care what anybody else thinks, and I NEED to get all these songs out of my head and into the world in the form of an album.  

I decided not to go the route of applying for grants, because I don't believe in the idea of 3 people sitting around a table deciding whether or not my music is worth listening to, and I find the rejection discouraging enough to affect my work.  So since April, I have been paying for all studio time, rental of any equipment (for home recording sessions), musician fees, and Krisjans' beer out of my own pocket.  I had to take roughly the whole Summer off from working on the album because I was finding it difficult at the time to pay for it all.  So far, it's amounted to over $2,500.  Studio time for recording alone is $35.00, which is why I have tried to do as much as I am capable of at home on my own.  That seems like a lot for somebody's first ever solo album, but I am not a young person or amature who is willing to settle for less and make an album that I may not be happy with in the end.  My thought process is that as life goes, this could be my only opportunity to do this, and I want to be proud of it.  So I am taking the ambitious route for once in my life. 

In September, my girlfriend, Courtney Day, and I were blessed with the birth of my first born son, Bowie Harrison Day-Strickland.  You can imagine I am sure that this altered our financial state and I can't really say "Sorry honey, our baby can't eat today, I have some bitchin'-ass vocal tracks to lay down tomorrow night".  Bowie's birth also required my absense from the studio for the months of September through to November. 

So if you haven't already figured it out from that unnecessarily long explanation, I am looking for donations to help me finish this album.  I still have a lot to go, but I would like to get this done!  I am still willing to contribute my own money to it of course, I just need the help.  Your contributions will help pay for the remainder of recording time, promotion, and the 3 M's (mixing, mastering, and manufacturing).  Of course, you won't go un-rewarded for your donations.  I have listed below a number of "prizes" you will recieve based on the amount of money you send my way, there's also a list of people who have performed on the album so far, just so you don't think this is some piece of crap that I did all my own.
